Getting here: From Bologna follow the main road S.S.64 (Porrettana) and turn right before Ponte della Venturina. The closest railway station is in Ponte della Venturina (8Km), on the Bologna-Pistoia railway line.

Granaglione is located in the valley of the Randaragna river in the Apennines, in the Municipality of Alto Reno Terme.
According to the tradition, the place name is related to the Lombard-Germanic words 'warnen' and 'waren' (to look at, to watch); this has lead to think that Granaglione means 'place of observation'.
The main church of the town is dedicated to San Nicolo' and houses interesting art works; on a near hill there is a sanctuary dedicated to the Madonna of Calvigi.
These lands have always been covered by woods and in the past villages were mainly founded by communities of woodcutters, such as the villages of Boschi, Lustrola (of Medieval origins), Casa Pacchioni (1049mt),  Casa Begorri, Casa Lazzaroni, Casa Boni, Casa Forlai, Casa Nasci, Case Calistri, Casa Roversi; all these tiny villages on the mountains have similar architectural features and characteristic decorations on the buildings.
In Biagioni can be seen a memorial to the Resistance; the memorial was erected in 1974 by seventeen towns of the area and it is located in front of the XVII century church.
