Getting here: From Bologna (31km) exit the A1 at San Lazzaro di Savena, the take the main road S.P. 7 (Via Idice). Railway station in Ozzano Emilia (16km) on the Bologna-Ancona railway line.
The museum 'Museo Civico Luigi Fantini', located in the main square of Monterenzio, has a collection of ancient historical documents and objects, spanning from the bronze and iron age to the Etruscans and Romans.
The village centre has Medieval origins; between the old and the new village there is a XIII century tower, which is part of the tiny village of Scarugliano, probably the original centre of Monterenzio. The tower still preserves some of the original features and has three doorways on the facade.
Worthy of mention are also the XIII century tower-house Ca' di Pie' (a well preserved exemplar of its kind) and the XVI century Palazzo Frontini (the arch on the doorway has an inscription with the date 1599). -
