Monteacuto is a very well preserved Medieval village with beautiful views of the surrounding  landscape; it is located on a little mountain which, in the past, was considered a strategic location and when the peace treat was signed between Bologna and Pistoia, a signed agreement was requested to the head of the village.
The village had a typical medieval fortress, with the walls and the keeper's house nearby the bell tower.
The highest part of the village can be reached by foot or with a horse; here is located the church of San Nicolo'. It is a XVII century building which probably has older origins. It houses an altar piece painted by Pietro Faccini, a pupil of the Carracci, which depicts the Trinity and the saints Nicolò, Giacomo and Lorenzo; there is also a wooden crucifix which is ascribed to Andrea Brustoloni, a renown XVIII century woodcarver from Veneto.
