Getting here: It is 6km from Porretta Terme. There is a bus service stopping in Castelluccio.
Castelluccio, in the Municipality of Alto Reno Terme, is on a mountain 800mt high and overlooks its surrounding valleys, with beautiful landscapes and views. The village has typical and historical architectural features, such as arches and hanging gardens. The main church is dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta and dates back to the XVII century. At the entrance of the village there is a castle, named Castello Manservisi, which is characterized by a romantic style typical of the end of the XIX - beginning of the XX century; the building has hosted a holiday home for children in the past, but now it is a restaurant.
Outside the village there is a path which leads to the sanctuary of the 'Madonna del Faggio', which is a small XVIII century church immersed in the silence and loneliness of a beechwood (as the name of the sanctuary suggests).
Tourists interested in long walks in the woods have a wide range of choice in the area: Tresana, Rifugio di Montecavallo, Prati del Piella, Pian dello Stellaio, Mulino di Taccaia are just some of the tiny villages and places to visit; paths and itineraries in the woods are well maintained and clearly indicated by signs thanks to the local association Pro Loco and CAI (Sezione Alto Appennino Bolognese). -
