The church of Vidiciatico was built in 1882-1884 next to the ruins of an older church, of which the apse and a bell town are still visible. San Pietro was elected parish in the second half of the XIV century; it included two other oratories of the area: the oratory of San Rocco in Vidiciatico and the oratory of La Cà. It houses an interesting altarpiece painted by Antonio Crespi and an organ dating back to the end of the XIX century. The patron saints Pietro and Paolo are celebrated on June the 29th. The apse of the ancient Romanic church bears the date 1393, written with Roman numbers. There are other ancient features still visible in the building, such as, on the south side, a gothic inscription with the date 1407, possibly the year in which the building was widened. The sandstone stronghold that used to protect this area is very interesting, featuring walls that are as thick as 1.3-1.4mt; it was probably erected around 1200. In 1820 it was modified and became the bell tower; the windows bear relieves depicting San Pietro, the Madonna and child, and angel and another saint. -
