Getting here: From Pianaccio take the white road CAI 151.
The ancient village dates back to the XVI century; the architrave of a building’s window bears the inscription ‘1644’ with a Malta cross inscribed into a circle. Today the village is abandoned and there is a very special atmosphere because the buildings are well preserved. This village overlooks the southern part of the valley of the Silla river; it occupies a very sunny position, which might be the origin of the name of the village itself (the word Fiammineda indicates a place that is subjected to fires). The village offers an amazing panorama of mountains including Monti Grossi, Monte Gennaio and Poggio delle Ignude. Monte Grande overlooks the village with its sandy top and woods. The village is surrounded by cherry and pear trees, tall poplars, old chestnut trees and more recently planted pinewoods. In spring, cuckoo-flowers give the village a touch of pink.
The muletrack that leads to Pianaccio still features original stone slabs and is partly immersed in a beautiful wood with big chestnut trees. In the woods it is possible to see an interesting old rural building, which used to feature an icon in the niche above the door. -
