  The Rocchetta Mattei is a fortress located in the municipality of Grizzana Morandi, along the state road n.  64 (Porrettana).
  Built in the second half of the nineteenth century, on the ruins of an ancient manor house dating back to 1200, it mixes different styles, from medieval to Moorish.
  
  
  During World War II German troops damaged the interior of the building, so that, on completion of the conflict, the last heir, Iris Boriani, failing to sell the Rocchetta, offers it for free to the City of Bologna that does not accept the donation.
  
  
  In 1959 the Rocchetta was purchased by Primo Stefanelli that turns one of the smaller buildings, previously used as a hunting lodge, in a cozy hotel with a restaurant, from which access to the adjacent shady park, a true oasis of quiet and serenity. Stefanelli aims to repair the damage to restore the castle to its original condition, to make it a tourist destination of great interest.
  
  
  In 1989, Stefanelli dies and the situation worsened: for various problems the Rocchetta was closed to the public.

  
  

  In 2005, the Fondazione della Cassa di Risparmio di Bologna officially announced the acquisition of the Rocchetta Mattei.
  
  
  In 2015 the restoration work is completed, and the Rocchetta Mattei from August 9 is reopened to the public
