    Pontecchio di Sasso Marconi BO

The age of wireless, wireless communication, was born here in the Apennines, in the Villa Griffoni in  Pontecchio, family residence and place of the first experiments in telegraphy of Guglielmo Marconi (Bologna 1874 - Rome 1937)
Today the villa houses the Foundation and Museum dedicated to the great inventor. Exciting is the visit to the famous "bug room", the first laboratory for the young scientist, just thirty-five for the Nobel Prize for Physics. Adjacent to the villa and well visible from Porrettana (SS 64), is the mausoleum, built by architect Marcello Piacentini. Visits to the Museum (particularly stimulating its educational offer) is booked and guided tour.
On the trail of Marconi in Granaglione you can visit the old house (XV century). Family of origin of the scientist, while the square is the beautiful palace of Porretta belonged to his father, William, where he spent the summers of his childhood.
