Fagnano’s church is dedicated to S. Maria Assunta. The building features an early Romanic bell tower and cloister with arches; it was restored in 1756. The Roman village of Fannius dates back to the I century before Christ; according to some, this is the birth place of Lamberto Fagnani, then Pope Onorio II (1124-1130), who received the support of the Frangipane in the conclave; he is described as a strong pope who defended the church also against the emperor. This church dates back to the XI century and hosted a monastery in ancient times. The surrounding area also boasts beautiful ancient villas, such as the "Vallona" (with a tower, a sundial and centuries old trees) and the "Cantagallo". Worth of mention is also the XVI century Villa di Montebiancano, restored in 1756 by Gregorio Biancani. Between the village and the river there is a beautiful row of bay-oaks, along the ancient canal that used to bring water to the mills of the area.
