  The monument celebrates the memory of all the Brazilian soldiers that fought, suffered and died in the area of Gaggio Montano during the Winter and Spring 1944-1945.
  The Brazilian army fought a harsh battle against the German army in the plane of Guanella. The battle left an enormous amount of dead soldiers. Several of the soldier that died here were from a village near Rio de Janeiro, where the memory of this battle is still alive in local place names, thanks to Agostino José Rodriguez.
